Restaurant Zorbas in Sitia.
The boulevard of Sitia is full of taverns; you can't see the wood for the trees. They all offer the same food for the same prices. The only choice you can make is for the most comfortable chair.
There is however one exception: Tavern Zorbas. Here you can still find the traditional Cretan food. Don't choose from the menu, but visit the kitchen via the side entrance. Here you will see a display with the daily fresh dishes, prepared by mother, as it should be.
For a very reasonable price you can have a good meal in a friendly atmosphere.
What we can recommend as well: their mezedes menu, with raki or ouzo. For 10 Euro for 2 persons you have a nice drink and your table will be full with many traditional tit-bits: Do it!
