Taverna Delfinia in Kalamaki
Only a few kilometres West of Matala, this hidden secret of Crete can be found.
It is not difficult to find Delfinia: the different atmosphere will attract your attention at the small boulevard of Kalamaki. You will also notice that many locals are regular clients, therefore from around 21.30 hours it will be almost full.
The food is different here: You will taste all the attention that is given to your food: the choice of the ingredients, the preparation, the presentation and the service.
They do not pretend to cook on a high culinary level, no; it is the simplicity that counts. Also the prices are very reasonable.
During one of our travels around Crete, we had dinner here for several times: fresh grilled sardines, a perfect salad, very tasty meat dishes and a very tasty eggplant salad. They also have a different wine list as you will see in other restaurants, another example that they really know their business well. Especially in the evening you can fully enjoy the spectacular sunsets from the terrace at the beach.
Dimitri, a son of the owner and his brother, will certainly do all they can to make you happy.
